Young mothers, beware what you feed your children !


Nowadays, young Malaysian children and adolescents are attracted by the  outlets offering tasty fast foods because they are easily accessible and convenient.  For the very young these outlets do their best to outdo each other to draw the children to patronize them. They do this by coming out with attractive toys to  attract the young children. You surely have the experience of your young child dictating to you to bring him to one of these fast food restaurants for the toys.

To draw in the adolescents, they offer free wi-fi service, which is now the craze of the adolescent generation. You can see  young adolescents busy playing with their laptops while having their meals.But as young mothers, do you just cave in to these commercial enterprises?  They are not only  reaping in huge profits with these manipulative moves. Your children are slowly destroying their health. Do you just give in to this commercial might?

These fast foods, though are convenient to you but they are bad for the health of children who take them frequently.

Just read what the Harvard School of Public Health has to say:-

‘The Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) researchers found that every 50 gram (1.8 oz) increase in daily intake of processed meat (about 1or 2 slices of deli meat or 1 hot dog), was linked to a 42 per cent higher risk of developing heart disease and a 19 per cent higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.’

Isn’t this frightening? Aren’t you unwittingly helping your children to acquire the dreaded heart diseases and diabetes? Surely this is not your intention, so please steer your children away from eating too much of such food. Help them to acquire taste for more healthy foods. You have in your hands the keys to your children’s future health!!!

    Great article, Uncle! It’s especially useful to me since I love McD’s and now that I’m breastfeeding Ewan exclusively, I have to really watch what I eat and avoid junks.
