A new-born calf totally ignorant of what a tiger is. This description depicts my younger days perfectly. I was full of self-confidence and self-assurance, not taking full cognizance of all conditions, but sure of my own opinions.
These two qualities deluded me to believe that I was ‘infallible and invincible’. No one checked me, or to be more truthful, I resisted any attempt to be checked. I was oblivious to the feelings and reactions I created in others. I had turned into an obnoxious person whose ‘cockiness’ was evident to all and sundry but myself.
The ‘School of Hard Knocks’ has sobered me up (plenty, I must confess) and age has also caught up with me and has done its part. The same two qualities which had produced a false sense of ‘invincibility’ in me before have lost their strong grip on me. I am more aware (very much more aware) of my own limitations now. Reality has set in, and I am glad! It is better late than never (allow me some self-consolation).
I am at the stage in life where being wise is more important than being right. I now seek self-improvement (you may say it is too late) and I hope to make changes fast so that I can find happiness, joy and contentment.
I wish to share this happiness with others through this blog (through my writings and my photographs). It is my hope that through this blog serendipity can play its mysterious magic and bring the `unasked-for’ goodies to me and to you.
May we all be happy, joyful and contented!

I have often mentioned to my friends that each of us is a small candle, dim but can still be seen in darkness. Ultimatley when there are enough candles, the whole place would be lit up and we can chase darkness away.
It is the same with truth seeking. All of us know a little. Together , by sharing our experience and knowledge, we will know more about the ultimately truth and happiness.
Welcome to the blogosphere, novice101.
Thanks, Doc. Will always welcome your comments.
No matter how dim our light is , in the darkness it can still brighten the surrounding. That’s why, as you have said, every little thing and every one of us counts.
Hi Novice 101,
This is another novice greeting you.
Just check the dictionary on
ser·en·dip·i·ty
–noun 1. an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident.
2. good fortune; luck: the serendipity of getting the first job she applied for.
We just follow Dr Hsu’s little candle light, and we shall not get lost!!
It was through Dr. Hsu’s little candle light that I was led to your blog. Do you know, you occupy the “choice lot” on Dr. Hsu’s blog link?
Justin Choo,
Most welcome. I didn’t known I was placed under the ‘choice lot’ of Doc’s link. I am most honoured and most appreciative. Most thankful to Doc. I’ve seen your contributions to the blog-sphere in the past. Hope, individually and collectively we can contribute in some ways back to society for what we have recieved.
I like this word as it connotes us getting desirable results though we don’t intentionally go out looking for them. Keep in touch.
“I am presently at this stage in life. My sole wish now is to seek self-improvement and I hope to make changes fast so that I can find happiness and be a bit more wise.”
I’m right there with you!
zepolcreation, very happy for you to be in this stage so early in your life. Keep on the path.
I enjoyed your views on America’s people. I believe it takes all of us to keep the light shining at a level where we can all learn and grow. Shine your light toward those who can learn from you while you learn as well.
Thanks for visiting my site, I too look for feedback to grow!
Thanks for sharing a little bit of your adventure with us!! And i really want to thank you for your comment on my article about Gratitude too, it was very interesting!
About Thanksgiving! I totally agree with you, it is a really beautiful opportunity to celebrate and be grateful for what we have!! I am French though, and as for you in Malaysia, we do not have this feast here… unfortunately ;o(… but still, i m joining the American people in their celebration today, it is really one of the most beautiful celebrations I know!
I wish you all the best! Naomi
Hi Novice 101,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I, too, am a novice.
We’re all attending the school of life. Life has certainly been my best teacher. I’m all for introspection and exchanging thoughts. Thanks for your insights!

I loved this. It’s so true what you said about how it it’s important you are wise versus right.
Right fades. Wisdom lasts.
You seem a very special person. Your presence in the world makes me smile
Thank you
We are all novices. I wish I’d had some of your self-assurance and self-confidence when I was young. It’s only coming now. Feedback is good, but trust your intuition and pray for humility. I’m recovering from a past of low self-esteem, and every once in a while I find myself flying just a bit too high — and pray for the humility to remember: Everyone is special, not just me. The most important thing is to do the best we can and respect our fellow inhabitants. Not that this makes much sense, but it’s all I can offer at the moment. Cheers!
