heartaches, inspiration, sayings, wisdom
In Behavior, Mindfulness, aphorism, beauty, inspiring, language, sayings, wisdom on July 12, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Many wise teachers of the past and present have leave us with profound sayings. These sayings if taken seriously and digested can provide us with unceasing source of inspiration. But how many of us make use of what has been so readily available to us. When we are discouraged, felt let-down and are down in the dumps we seldom make effort to tap into this rich, penetrating and insightful source of wisdom. How unfortunate, if we have been more conscientious we could spare ourselves plenty of heartaches.
Here are some examples of the inspiration just a click away:-
- The whole idea of compassion is based on a keen awareness of the interdependence of all these living beings, which are all part of one another, and all involved in one another. –Thomas Merton
- “Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug.” — Og Mandino
- He who obtains has little. He who scatters has much. –Lao-Tzu
- Leaders are more powerful role models when they learn than when they teach. –Rosabeth Moss Kantor
- And sometimes it’s the very otherness of a stranger, someone who doesn’t belong to our ethnic or ideological or religious group, an otherness that can repel us initially, but which can jerk us out of our habitual selfishness, and give us intonations of that sacred otherness, which is God. –Karen Armstrong
- The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but reveal to them their own. –Benjamin Disraeli
- When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young. –Maya Angelou
- “The best portion of a good man’s life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love.” – William Wordsworth
- Life’s most urgent question is: What are you doing for others? –Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
- “Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and despair, but manifestations of strength and resolution.” – Khalil Gibran
I thank you for reading this. Do not take too long to visit again.
